Whilst most of my work is weddings, I've recently made the time to put together this short tribute piece to the natural beauty of life around the oceans in my corner of the world. It showcases some of the amazing things that we sometimes miss in our busy lives that would otherwise go unnoticed. It's a gentle mix of static shots, close ups and time lapse.
The stars of this video are without doubt the soldier crabs (Mictyris longicarpus) - pictured in the thumbnail. IMHO one of the coolest crabs on the planet. They congregate during low tide in groups numbering the thousands, they march together like a moving blue carpet & they bury themselves in a corkscrew manner in soft sand when threatened. Not only that but instead of walking sideways like most crabs they walk forwards :)
I thoroughly enjoyed putting this together. All footage shot within 10 minutes of my hometown in Kingscliff in Northern NSW, Australia. I feel very fortunate to live where I do.
Shot on Canon XH-A1, stock lens.
