Speaking to foreign diplomats at an annual event held before Rosh Hashana, he also expressed fear that the Iranian situation would bring about a kind of renewed "Cold War."

Another Ebola outbreak kills 15 people in eastern Congo. According to The Associated Press, an outbreak of the Ebola virus has killed 15 people in northeastern Congo and the local communities are quickly learning how frighteningly deadly the disease is, and how to prevent its spread. This is the ninth Ebola epidemic in Congo. Ebola, which causes severe internal bleeding and has no cure, is deadly in 40 to 90 percent of cases.

Israel and the U.S. are at odds over 'red lines' for Iran. According to Haaretz and the Washington Post, despite attempts to align their positions on Iran's nuclear program, Israel and the United States were publicly at odds over Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's call for Washington to set a "clear red line" beyond which it would launch a military attack. An Israeli official stated that "Without a clear red line Iran will not cease its race toward a nuclear weapon." Netanyahu told reporters, "Those who refuse to put red lines before Iran don't have a moral right to place a red light before Israel."
