I guess the band would be a fairly trustworthy source. :) Im still confused though because I read the lyrics and a bunch of people have it labels incorrectly then. Anyways, sweet video!

As far as we can gather, the leaked mp3 version of the album had mislabeled the track as "Eyes as Candles". D'oh!

We shot all the motion plates on a Red One. (Captured 4K RAW at 23.976fps and downrezed to 16bit 1080 TIFF sequences for post, if you want to get nerdy)

Stop motion and still assets were mostly shot with a Canon Digital Rebel XT. A few stills were shot on a Nikon, but I don't know the model name at the moment.

Re: the birds, I had thought about doing that shot in Processing, but I ended up coding a simplified version of Craig Reynolds 'Boids' algorithm directly in After Effects with expressions. In retrospect, that was a mistake - either due to limitations of the expression engine or my skills as a programmer, calculating each frame really started to get bogged down at around 60-70 birds (there are something like 300 in the shot). In the end, the prerender for just the birds took a few hours on my brand-new computer, whereas if I had done it in Processing, it probably would have finished in a few minutes.
