This is a short film about the evolution and integration of a drum break recorded in 1969: The Amen Break. It was made as part of my final year at art school for my degree in Visual Communication.

The film progresses in soundtrack and visually- going from early songs which sample the break, through images of different playback devices, to the current trend of using itunes, youtube and blogs to listen to music.

The work is a series of "moving photographs"- static, very close in, shots of parts of cassette tapes, the grooves in vinyl and pixels on monitors.

There's more information about it on my website, at iammartin.co.uk

Very good! ..even though the start could be a little boring with so much text up...

I love the videos, what cam did you use?

Sorry for the late reply, Maxxy! It was shot with a 5D, mainly. I was finding it difficult to explain the drum break without so much text! Less would be better though, you're right.
