Any rendered animal fat will produce good results. these are easy and economical to make, a good substitute for processed waxes such as paraffin, processed plant waxes and bees wax.
Rendered animal fat can also be used as a good barter item if waxes are in short supply or, too expensive.
Single pot rendering is more efficient both on heating fuel and, fat extraction. Really no different to cooking fatty meat on a hot plate or in fry pan. Temperature control is essential to prevent flash fire if fat is over heated.
