It was a foggy September morning when NKP 765 departed Decatur, IL on its way to St. Louis for a weekend of NS Employee Specials. The haze and the industrial background looks a little like an American scene from the 1940’s or early 50’s. This is a shortened look at the departure from our “Big Steam on the Mainline” DVD - yardgoatimages.com/store-2#!/~/product/category=360233&id=17253964
Two heritage units, Wabash 1070 and Illinois Terminal 1072, accompanied the train on the westbound move and weekend trips, and 765 handled the train solo on the return to Fort Wayne. You can read a full account of my trip with 765 here - yardgoatimages.com/trip-report-765-on-the-norfolk-southern
