First of all, Happy 2013 to everybody I know and I do not know,
Hope you had a wondeful Christmas and new year eve!
This is my first entry for this 2013 year, something to start with.
Smoke, steam, a variety of gas, flames, flame thrower, explosion, a variety of
pyrotecnic elements. I think we have seen and done all of those FX at least once
in the last years and to start this 2013 I wanted to try to do something visually different.
Although it end in a cloud of smoke/steam, this FFX simulation is an attempt to push
in a different direction the internal FumeFX shader. (more abstract/artistic)
It use massively the internal lighting (SubSurfaceScattering) to achieve a more solid look,
something like a jellyfish material, a little like crystals thanks to the micro noise
coming from the evolution of the simulation.
It is an external layer of a certain solid material that get skinned away during its
evolution revealing the green smoke contained inside.
Hope you like it and again, happy new year!
PS: Watch it in HD and Full Screen as there are lots of sweet details in there you may not catch otherwise.
