These short clips show us riding in a Delta vehicle, from McMurdo to the Pegasus runway, on the 2nd January 2013. The snow was unusually slushy, caused by dirt swept in from a storm on Black Mountain, efficiently absorbing sunlight and melting the snow faster than usual. The unusually warm temperatures of +5 C didn't help either! Shuttle Bob did a great job driving.
We are in Antarctica with the United States Antarctic Program (USAP) as a joint US (University of Arizona) / Australian (University of NSW) expedition to service a remote astronomical observatory at a place called Ridge A, around 1000 km from the South Pole.
