This video was made for the National Park Service at Fire Island National Seashore. It details the park's horseshoe crab tagging program and assistance by citizen scientists to monitor horseshoe crab populations.
The goal of the program is set up a long-term citizen science monitoring program to help the park's staff access the horseshoe crab populations and their use and dependence on the estuarine shoreline for their spawning activities. The national tagging program is sponsored and maintained by the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
