Peripheral Arterial Disease - Podiatrist in Brooklyn and Staten Island, NY - Howard Dinowitz, DPM

Podiatrist Dr. Howard Dinowitz of The Foot Typing Centers discusses the symptoms, causes and treatments for Peripheral arterial disease (P.A.D.)

Circulation: PAD
Peripheral Arterial Disease, or PAD, affects many of us as we age. Blocked arteries reduce the amount of circulation coming into the feet and this results in foot and leg cramps, poor healing, cold and hairless feet and a lack of feeling in the feet. An examination from a Podiatrist will determine if advanced studies are necessary in order to determine the existence and level of PAD. Exercise, warm clothing and socks and avoiding cold exposure are simple home remedies. When these fail or symptoms intensify, oral and topical medications, physical therapy and vascular surgery can avoid a tragedy from occurring by increasing the circulation into the legs and feet.
