In this sequence I worked with animator Zac Hogg and DOP Richard Fitzpatrick to build up video layers of streaming particles into which we introduced our 3D plankton models. This is the story of how planktonic coral larvae come to settle on a reef. This animation is also the first ever visualisation of the cloning process by which a single coral polyp becomes a colony. Zac Hogg animator, clever bluescreen bits Richard Fitzpatrick, purple prose by me! Note the bioluminescent lightning in the background and the cackling fruit bats as atmos! - courtesy Ashton Ward). This sequence describes phytoplankton and zooplankton and their ecosystem and the role of planktonic larvae as the "inter-stellar voyagers of inner space".
