Created as a collaboration between two classes, Tokyo Stories and Metropolitan Tokyo, during the summer of 2009 at Temple University Japan. 6 groups made documentaries centering on different neighborhoods of Tokyo by conducting research, fieldwork, and oral histories. In conjunction with urbz.net, students also re-envisioned the architecture and design of their chosen neighborhoods. This documentary focuses on Golden Gai, a district of Shinjuku that was once a blue light district and is now home to more than 200 bars. The area is known as an artistic hub of Tokyo, but it constantly faces the threat of destruction.
