The yard of St Paul’s cathedral in the City of London was Occupied for four months over the winter of 2011/12, with people camping out in tents in a high profile public space to highlight the faults of the current economic system and to debate alternatives. We spent a few days talking with people taking part, including a performance poet, a squatter at a nearby bank building turned into the Bank of Ideas, a London cab driver with a love of Cuba who was donating food, and a man who had submitted a legal claim to own St Paul’s having slept on its steps for years.
