I have been following this and was looking forward to buying a GH1 too.
Do you think GH1 is better than D90? or even Mark II?
Congratulations on First Prize!
It was great fun being covered in cocoa powder, charcoal, Bar-B-Que pit grease and Georgia dirt for the duration of the shoot.
I will bet the folks at Panasonic are happy about their new camera being shown off in such a great manner.
Best of luck in other film contests, too.

Nice shoot, I like it a lot!
Keep doing...
Looks awesome!
really wonderful, you are a trailblazer making this with such a small camera. so exciting!!
please tell how did you find the process of using this equipment in making this?
looks really amazing, the story has the audience (me) confused and intrigued, at the same time visually satisfied with the sets actors and set ups.
cool stuff, man , keep it comin
Is it NAVITAR?
But occasionally it's best to just sit back and enjoy a fantastic film
This is one of those pieces
However, it is the subtlety of the camera moves, the pace and the energy that made the storyline compelling.
I am just about to take delivery of a GH1 and I am relieved to see a film of this quality made with it!
I was just wondering...
I am looking into getting a new HD camera and I wanted to know if the GH1 is hard to keep steady. (If im not using a tripod) It looks like camcorders would be easier to hold. So I just wanted to know if it is easy to film with this camera rather that a camcorder?
Thank You and GREAT JOB!
Did you shoot it in 1080 24p or 720 60p? I've heard that people use cineform neoscene to extract 24p from their 60p footage. I justed wanted to know if that's what you did here.
I edited with Vegas 7 and did color grading in after effects.
i need your advice in choosing a camera. first, when i saw your movie shot in D90, i fell in love with it. and now i cant make up my mind whether i should by GH1 or D90.
what would you say their pros and cons are? whats good about each of them and whats bad?(concerning change-in-lens, colors etc.)
thanks!
tom
I really like the organic and natural look to the D90, but the GH1 beats it in resolution, manual controls, and lens selection. You just have to work with the image in post a bit more than the D90.
For some of the action shots I used 1/100, but usually I stayed at 1/50.
I love how your night footage turned out. What settings did you use so that their was no graininess?...Was it really night? Did you use any footage treatments in post?
Thx much for posting!
Could you tell me a bit about your export settings? I've struggled with exporting HD in aspect ratios such as 2:35 (which I assume this is)
what kind of dolly/crane did you use?
did you use any adapter like the ones from zuco or redrock to hold the camera?
i just got the gh1 and i feel like it has lots to learn with the motion rec.
any ways just amazing job.
i'd watch a feature film made with this camera and the quality of shooting/light setup if there was one out there :D
One nitpick, though: compared to other mp4 films on vimeo shot with the GH1, NIGHTLIGHT looks rather soft. Is there a reason for this? Conversion with Cineform NeoHD? Compression?
I've converted other mp4 films to MPEG and viewed them on my 42" TV, and they look quite sharp. NIGHTLIGHT doesn't, although the film itself is fantastic. Any ideas?
