Registered nurses at Long Island College Hospital (LICH) in the Cobble Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn are fighting to keep quality patient care a priority at their hospital. They say quality patient care means maintaining a strong, qualified nursing staff that cares about the community. They say StaffCo, the private consulting firm hired by LICH's owner--SUNY Downstate Medical Center-- to staff LICH is taking measures that will weaken patient care overall.
LICH nurses were at the frontlines of the Hurricane Sandy emergency when LICH took in hundreds of patients that had to be evacuated, providing uninterrupted care under the most difficult conditions.
In this video, LICH nurses take their message to the public and share why LICH management needs to keep LICH strong for the community.
