Curtis Lipps, author of a new play on the 1925 Scopes Trial, talks about the visit of famed newspaperman and cynic H.L. Mencken to Dayton, Tennessee, to cover the trial.
The 2009 play, One Hot Summer, was performed in the Rhea County courtroom where the Scopes Trial took place.
Dayton, Tennessee, holds an annual Scopes Trial Play and Festival. The 2009 play took place on July 17 and 18.
Mr. Lipps and Tom Morgan were responsible for the new production.
