Diane and Rob had planned the perfect Durham wedding (with the help of Amanda at A Swanky Affair). They were to be wed at the gorgeous Duke Gardens. They were going to "slip in" to Cameron Indoor Stadium (where the Duke Blue Devils play their basketball) for formals. Then, they would celebrate at the historic Trotter Building in downtown Durham with world-renowned jazz musician, Kermit Ruffins (and his band, the Barbecue Swingers).
What's that saying? Sometimes even the best laid plans...
Like a lot of our weddings this year, it rained. It rained enough to negate the gorgeous outdoor ceremony. It was instead, held on the porch of The Greystone Inn, where Diane and Rob got ready. We still went to Cameron Indoor Stadium, but instead of an epic open basketball court steeped in tradition, there was a banquet being set-up and we were relegated to a dark corner of the stadium. The silver lining: Kermit Ruffins did perform in the historic Trotter Building and the couple second-lined the night away!
As you will see in the film, Diane and Rob are far from the ordinary wedding couple. In fact, Diane is a Dean at Princeton and Rob is a partner in a major law firm on Park Avenue in New York City. Even in their esteemed positions, both Diane and Rob were so nice and easy going...truly a pleasure to work with.
On a side-note: You won't see Kermit Ruffins in this highlights film, as, unfortunately, we don't have the image rights. Rest assured, though, that they put on one heck of a show!
Other awesome vendors we worked with on Rob and Diane's wedding: Dara Blakeley Photography and Tre Bella Flowers.
