Just like modular synthesizers, people connect with each other in order to achieve diverse objectives. In Voltage, robots, half-human and half-synthesizer, powered by a huge amount of energy, connect to each other in an electric and chaotic trance.

This is just amazing work. I can't stop watching it. There is so much to love here. Great artwork, cutting edge animation, sound design that gives me chills and a title sequence that really is one of the best things I've seen in a long time. I love that you give thanks to all of those pioneering artists. This was a labor of love and it shows. Keep up the good work, and thank you for bringing something this beautiful into the world.

Anyone know how they got their video to display this way? The video shows up much larger than normally. Click the link to see what I'm talking about ( vimeo.com/channels/staffpicks#5734105 )
  • Bam Studio 2 years ago
Just upload your filmes in high-definition.
  • Daniel 2 years ago
I did, and am, but check out the link I left. The video is way larger than any normal video on the site. How do you get your videos to show up that way? ( bit.ly/YKpp ) I'm guessing that Vimeo has to pick your video and put it in their special gallery to be featured in that way.
  • Bam Studio 2 years ago
Well, I believe then that my video is larger than the normal because it headlines the channel's page.
  • Daniel 2 years ago
yeah that's what I'm guessing thanks!

Wow, I make electronic music and love animation. in my eyes this is perfect! :)

Was the part of 02:38 borrowed from the Animatrix, renaissance ?
  • Bam Studio 2 years ago
I know it's a shame, but I haven't watched this Animatrix episode yet. Maybe both animations are inpired by the same stuff. I'm now curious to watch it, anyway.
  • Inofaith 2 years ago
    You should.
And yes, it's most likely this shot has a similar reference to it like the one in the Animatrix.. I think I heard that in the DVD comments. (my animatrix dvd is in a moving box right now so I can't look it up for ya)
The animatrix is perhaps my favorite DVD of all time together with it's soundtrack.

And your work comes close... good things here :)

Marvelous - Is this hand drawn animation? I'm just asking because it has that certain analog touch.
  • Bam Studio 2 years ago
Yes. Hand drawn animation on paper and hand painting on the computer, using tablets.

Aside from being a beautiful video, for someone who loves old analog synthesizers and computers, this strangely emotes the tragic feelings of lost creative endeavors such as bands I've been in and even creative / hopeful start ups and other companies... groups of people striving towards a goal, that have failed just on the verge of success. Awesome degraded vectorized, handdrawn art quality. Raw analog sound.

That was one of the things we wanted to show trough our work. You went even further. Voltage is about connection, interaction and what you do to it and to others. Success and failure depends on how prepared to handle things you are.

    Thank You for your comment.

It started out slow but I kept with it. After the first fifteen seconds I was hooked. As a musician, the concept was not lost on me. Especially the "blowing up" part. Jimi Hendrix would have loved this video.
