Laval, Pont d'Avesnières entre 20h et minuit avec le Canon 5DmkII.
Today was one of those wonderful days when the sun plays hide and seek behind morphing cloudy curtains.
I went back to the river to shoot another bridge next to the illuminated church.
By midnight, I got lucky forcing my FD lenses into maximum aperture for wonderfull chromatic aberration, coma, awesome flaring and all kinds of lovely optical artefacts from passing cars and city lights...
Aujourd'hui le soleil jouait à cache-cache derrière de magnifiques rideaux de nuages. Je suis retourné à la rivière pour filmer la tombée de la nuit sur le pont près de la basilique du quartier d'Avesnières. Vers minuit, j'ai débridé mes objectifs vintages pour obtenir de splendides aberrations optiques en interaction avec les voitures du boulevard et les lumières de la ville.

i used the kit lens EF24-105 f4L + older manual FDs : 15mm f2.8, 20-35 f3.5 L & 50mm f1.2 L
optical defects come from my fd>eos adapter shitty optics when open too wide... at f4 it's ok but from f2.8 it gets softer and starts to diffuse and bloom, adding a very dreamy feel which i do like quite much.
shutterspeed was 1/50 then 1/30 at night.
iso from 100 in direct sunlight upto 1250 when pitch black.
focusing with houdloupe & controlling exposure with a variable ND filter.
EI-717a fluid head on SlikPRO 340DX tripod with short column for low mode.
2 16gb transcend 133x CF cards and 2 batteries
all fitting in a sturdy trekking backpack.

the night shots, with the the different light effects are very nice!
the latter is how i do it nowadays because i can also slowit down and fine tune the duration to match the tune better than having only a few frames to play with...
however it drains batteries and eats up memory pretty quick
Amazing bokeh, 5DII will definitely never deceive me...
