The Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) with individual donors and in conjunction with SA Unions, the Josephite Sisters Reconciliation Circle, Pilgrim Uniting Church, Mission Resourcing SA, Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress SA and the United Nations Association Australia will be launching the book ‘ A Decision to Discriminate’ released by Concerned Australians.
This book follows on from the highly regarded “This Is What We Said” (February 2010), “Walk with Us “August 2011) and “NT Consultations Report 2011.
Through the use of direct quotations, this new book is an important historical record that focuses on the Senate Committee Inquiry into the Stronger Futures legislation. It shows how the Government decision-making process chose to ignore the views expressed by many Aboriginal people of the Northern Territory communities, in much the same way as has happened since colonisation.
Travelling to Adelaide to launch the book are the Rev Dr Djiniyini Gondarra OAM and Rosalie Kunoth Monks OAM representing the Yolngu Nations and the Alyawaar Nations respectively. This is a rare opportunity to meet with these two distinguished Elders and to hear first-hand stories.
