This is a simple way to test and measure servo torque. I use a digital fish scale (calibrated with known weights), a radio receiver, transmitter, battery pack, switch, voltage regulator, digital voltage display and a means to mount everything.
The servo arm is a Dubro 1", so the force measured on the fish scale translates directly into the torque value. Torque = Force x Distance. The distance is 1" from the centerline of the servo. Force is measured on the fish scale. Note, it is critically important to make sure the servo arm and linkage is exactly perpendicular when the load is applied. It's also important to record your voltage under load since the servo will load down the system somewhat.
