Every year Southside Skatepark puts on it's big money contest in July called the Southside Showdown. The contest is currently in it's 7th year but this year brought more money and a more affordable entry fee for all skateboarders wanting to participate. We moved the overall purse up from last years $2250 to $4000. Somehow we managed to pull this off but were still able to reduce the entry fee from $50 to $40. Not only did the first place winner Michael Cross win $1250 cash, he also won an all expenses paid trip to the Vans Downtown Showdown courtesy of Vans Shoes. Without a doubt, the level of skateboarding at the contest is always the highest of the year, but this year was even better. All the skaters who participated killed the park and absolutely took care of business all day. Austin Files managed to capture about as much as he could and put it together for us to enjoy. Some of the settings on his export are incorect, but we thought that you would rather see something than nothing.
