Producer / musician Dean De Benedictis does his a cappella version of the old jazz standard "As Time Goes By" as an art stunt at Times Square during AM hours. It is performed live, using Live looping (Abbleton), to honor the area for his project Travels Rendered, and was one of the somewhat-disheveled last stops of a difficult project trip. The recording takes place during the NYC trip of 2011, but the song and video are intended as a general New Year's gift.
This sketch is intended as a sentimental, lonely, reflective, noir-like tribute. To achieve this effect visually, Dean put filtering effects on his footage, this particular selection having been filmed in-and-around the Times Square area.
More videos from this project will be posted over the coming year, as well as updates on Dean's approaching trips through the American west.
