Camille planned an adventure to end a year of excellent adventures. The trip started in Lipa City, Batangas. The wakeup call at 1:00 am was not welcome but to catch the 4:00 am ferry to Abra de Ilog, Mindoro Occidental, you ahve to get going. Thankfull the ferry had beds. A 2 hours snooze put us to the starting point of our bike trip just after sunrise. Rented mountain bikes were to take us 124km to Sablayan….. after about 7 hours my rear end had had enough. The bus took us over the "shortcut" and dropped us at the destination. We easily found Landi the boat opperator, with whom we arranged a trip to Apo Island the next morning. Landi picked us up on his motorcycles and took us the the trusty banka - "Anak ng Dagat" Almost 3 hours of motoring dropped us at Apo Island, about half way between the island of Busuanga and Mindoro. We could see Busuanga where only a few weeks before we had doven the WWII Japanese ship wrecks. We had the best snorkelling I have ever done and camped on the remote island. Wind picked up towards evening and continued in to the next day. This mad the ride to the mainland very rough and wet! From Sablayan we caught the bus, ferry, and car back to Lipa where we had an excellent night's sleep.
(note: Occidental Mindoro is a province in the Philippines.....it has nothing to do with an "accidental" adventure ;-)
