Samir Karnik is a renowned film director, producer and screenwriter of Hindi movies who did his directorial debut in 2004 with the movie “Kyun! Ho Gaya Na...” The movie was a Bollywood romance film starring Aishwarya Rai and Vivek Oberoi in the main lead.
Later he came up with movies like “Heroes” and “Yamla Pagla Deewana” which were directed as well as produced by him. The movies did quite well at the box office and gathered him the desired appreciation. “Yamla Pagla Deewana” marked the second time that the Deol family had been cast together after their last sports hit, Apne in 2007. The film with the perfect dose of action, drama and comedy, combined with a fine story received mostly positive reviews from critics.
After his rip-roaring Yamla Pagla Deewana, Samir Karnik is ready with his next directorial venture, Chaar Din Ki Chandni. The film, starring Tusshar Kapoor and Kulraj Randhawa, is set to release on Lohri next year. The movie, produced under the banner Top Angle Productions is a romantic comedy and is set against the backdrop of Rajasthan at a four-day wedding. Samir Karnic has great expectations from the movie and hopes that it breaks the records of Yamla Pagla Deewana and does even better at the box office.
Further, the title track of the 1989 release “Chandni” is another high point of the film, says Samir. “The idea of the song “O meri Chandni” came from the fact that the girl’s name in the movie is chandni”? It brings a sense of recall and fits the situation,” says the producer-director.
Dus 2, the sequel of the movie global crime thriller Dus is also to be directed by Samir Karnik. Its shooting is expected to begin at the year end with most of the original cast returning for an enthusiastic encore. Only Shilpa Shetty would be replaced by Deepika Padukone, as the role requires a tall athletic actress who can do kick stunts. Samir Karnik is expected to finalize Dus 2 after the release of his upcoming movie “Chaar Din Ki Chandni”.
