The purpose of K20alt is to provide professional development to alternative educators across the state of Oklahoma.

Our main goal is to support their needs in the classroom by providing them with resources, authentic lessons, and strategies to teach the content that they are wanting to teach to their students.

A greater purpose of K20alt is to really help alternative teachers understand authentic learning and teaching and what an impact authentic teaching and learning can have on their students.

We are really excited about what K20alt is offering teachers throughout the state.

The core of what we do, everything that we provide, we ask ourselves, "how can we help the alternative education teacher be more effective?"

The lessons that have been created for K20alt can serve a broader purpose as a model for authentic teaching and learning.

Teachers all across the state have a heavy burden on their shoulders to teach tons of content to students who are coming in and out of their doors all through the year. We create these lessons with that in mind. We allow the teacher to access that lesson with background information, and we give reasons for the decisions we make within the lesson. The design of the lesson is what makes K20alt special.

The website is the hub for alternative teachers in the state of Oklahoma.

It's a place where teachers can go and pull down lessons to be used immediately with their students.

The possibilities are really endless for them.

They're actually able to use the communication skills and create learning themselves instead of me just telling them what they need to know.

They're not going to forget blowing those bubbles and what that stood for, or the gummy bears. All that was exciting and fun for them and they're just not going to forget.

That's the stuff that we're passionate about and that's why teachers are in education to begin with.
