Shanya Cordis is a PhD student in the University Texas-Austin Department of Anthropology. She is a first-generation Guyanese immigrant of Arawak/Warao and black ancestry. Her research focuses on changing conceptions of indignity in Guyana, in particular multi-racial indigenous youth that transform and negotiate their identity in the context of racial and ethnic pluralism.
