We drove through Algonquin for the first time at the end of its winter season. Melted snow was gathering into streams, speeding up with gravity as they ran off the rocky cliff. I watched Hwy 60 stretch before my eyes. Endless views of frozen lakes and pine trees rolled out as the sun lifted early morning mist. It was this moment, that I saw what life’s comfort has taken away from me, and I had the strongest urge to go into the unknown with only a backpack, leaving this concrete jungle behind.
