Sunlight Heaven
Sunrise is one of the greatest things in life. it’s a pity that i don’t see it very often. Here i tried to catch the mood of the morning sun on the way back home to Sajkod from Balatonsound festival.
shot in Hungary @ lake Balaton, mainly on the ferry from Szántód to Tihany.
the music is Sunlight, Heaven from Julianna Barwick
i used
canon hv30
DIY 35mm adapter (static) with nikon lens (50mm) 1.4

i have a question... are you studying film studies or you just do it for fun?
the dreamy, euphoric mood of the music brings this to an other level.
film is my hobby, i work as an art director at an adagency
i got a few pieces of matte glass from a friend who works at a laboratory. unfortunately i can’t tell you the grain size... i did not use diffusor lens so there’s some vignetting, but in this case it adds to the feel
but you’re right the first frame can suggest a different thing too.
but fascinating
great video!
this is the vibrating version but it looks the same except the telephone wire :)

Very cool this video. Greetings from Itaúna, Minas Gerais - Brazil!
love the theme.
love the colors.
love the image.
well done.
your adapter seems great for this kinda of look and feel
Cheers!.
I luv the soft autumn feel and lighting, Its like a warm day before the winter cold arrives. beautiful!
i’m in love with the 25p mode of the hv30, and i always use cine mode because that gives the best base for color correction.
Could you tell where can i find more about this DIY adapter?
Great job!

or google 35mm adapter
Great video!
i used a very simple static adapter. made from canon extension tubes. there’s only a matte glass in it and two achromat lenses.
it’s image is far not perfect, but i use it as an ”in camera” effect :)
i built a vibrating one too with a rougher groundglass, and attached diffusor lens. that’s producing much sharper image and nicer bokeh, without vignetting.
message me if you want to know more
But isn't such an adaptor a little unhandy to carry around?
Using a D90 would be easyer right?>
and as far as i know dslr cameras aren’t very usable without some stabilization. but i’m about to change my d60 to a d90 (or who knows what comes) to be able to shoot photos and video with carrying only one thing.
we'll see what the future brings. meanwhile carry on making great shots ;)
Thanks so much for the wonderful contribution to art!

Im a director & photographer from Argentina
im obsessed to reach vintage film look just like you!
do u know where i can buy adapters for nikon lenses to the HV40 like yours in USA?
because here in argentina its very hard to find de pieces to make it myself!
thanks again!
i enjoyed your dante video, also your photos on behance are very cool.
i build my adapter myself, and i think it’s really not a big deal to put one together, because all the parts are available from the net via (i.e) ebay.
but there are many midprice adapters out there, approx the same quailty as a good DIY version, and usually you can buy them via webshop.
i found a blog that has a nice collection of infos and links on this topic.

i found webstore call JAG35 yesterday!
did you listen to DIETRICH ? i think u'll like it
myspace.com/dietrichbuenosaires
thanks again!
hv30 is a very good camera, it has manual focus control, but this effect is achieved with a 35mm lens adapter (depth of field adapter) and a nikon lens. you can read more on this:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Depth-of-field_adapter
In the end I settled on a Panasonic HDC-TM300.
Now I'm looking into a 35mm lens adapter.
I'm currently looking into the Jag35Pro. However, I found out the image gets inverted when you use an 35mm adapter. How did you overcome this problem?
hard to belive, but after a few days you won’t even notice it’s upside down. your brain flips the image back... of course the footage stays mirrored, but in the editing program you can easily solve the problem, by rotating the image with 180º. (i use this method).
...or you have to look for a higher category adapter, with a flip modul.
i hope it helps
I have one last question and then I'll leave you alone =D (I love all your vids btw) Which program do you use to edit your movies?
