Our first New Year's Day brunch was in 2000. Does anyone remember the Y2K hullabaloo, the doomsday scenario, and all the excitement? Seems like a century ago, but Steve and I thought, well, let's just get up early enough to check out the sunrise; and If we were going to lose power in a massive way, why, we would be atop a hill, and be safely off the grid.
The sun did come up for the millennium and there was light, water and gas. We went back home and hosted our first brunch with neighbors and friends, and thus a tradition was born.
