Thin Lizzy frontman Phil Lynott died on January the 4th 1986. Had he lived, he would have turned sixty in August 2009. In this audio slideshow Paul Murphy looks back on Lynott's life and explores the little known fact that this Irish icon was actually born in South Birmingham.

Murphy is a musician, poet and lead singer of Birmingham band The Destroyers. Like Lynott, he was born in August 1949. As Murphy prepares to turn sixty he visits landmarks in Lynott’s life and talks with the people he meets on a journey from Birmingham to Dublin.

This audio was taken from a forthcoming radio documentary.
