On January 25, 2013 Illinois Governor Quinn urged low-income taxpayers to use the Center for Economic Progress' free tax sites to get the maximum refund they deserve. CEP Volunteers are trained to access the federal and Illinois EITCs along with other valuable tax credits. Said Governor Pat Quinn: “One of the best ways to stimulate the local economy is to put more money back in the pockets of working families." In 2012 Governor Quinn signed into law the first increase in the Illinois EITC in ten years. Tens of millions of dollars will be available to Illinoisans as a result.
For 20 years, CEP has been on the forefront of turning tax time into an opportunity for low-wage workers and their families to get ahead. CEP serves families who make less than $50,000 and individuals who make less than $25,000.
“The Center for Economic Progress works to ensure that all hard-working, low-income families move from financial uncertainty to financial security,” said David Marzahl, President & CEO, Center for Economic Progress. “We provide a full range of financial tools and services – from tax help, to legal advice to financial coaching -- helping our clients year-round.”
