Having partaken of a seafood 'nabe', in Japan, it is usual to use the remaining soup from the 'nabe' or casserole and and make 'zousui' using cooked white rice as shown in this video. A popular alternative is to add 'udon' (thick wheat noodles) rather than rice. Criteria for using either depends on nothing more than preference.
