The Parts of a Feather

In Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, a small company called Feathercraft is producing the world's best foldable kayak. I wanted to capture an intimate look at how this company came to be, from exploring mineralization in the north, back down to building a shop at Granville Island. Doug Simpson is the owner and designer at Feathercraft. He has spent years perfecting every aspect of the foldable kayak including the shape, the materials, and the many components that go into his boats, including the rudder which has become ubiquitous in the industry.
