King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy
Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Obscura designed and built a 5,000 sq ft permanent experience center, showcasing the Master plans of twelve of the world’s top architecture and engineering firms with an immersive, interactive journey through the vision of the new city. The room features 25 spheres from 1.2m up to 4m in diameter; 12 are internally lit with custom designed LED fixtures, 12 are externally projected onto, and 1 is used as an interactive controller. Additionally there is a 30’ projection screen for the main exhibition narrative, a 16' x 16' curved relief map of the proposed location for the city that we project plans and environmental data on, a piezoelectric floor that generates electricity and visualizations when walked on, a 4x12 LCD wall, and a touchscreen controlled projection playback for each of the 12 master planner stations.
