Here is a rambling off-the-wall set of images and sketches made during my trip to London. This is part of an on-going personal video series where I try to document my travels, often I'm just experimenting with various techniques or approaches.

    Damn inspiring!

Why it every time I see something of yours I always feel like breaking into your home and stealing your time line?

How'd you do that American Splendor type animation? Is that After Effects? Damn I wanna try this with my sketchbook now.

the images alone are exceptionally beautiful. animating them with the style you do brings to life such a unique story.

can you tell us about the process at all?

  • Blake, i had two cameras with me the canon 5d and the canon sd1000 P&S, a moleskin and some pens. i was in london for work, but found myself inspired to shoot. last week i had a few free nights, so i sat done in FCP imported everything---shot some images from my moleskin-- and got to work. in terms of editing i just went with my gut and a tried to stick things in chronological order. when a feeling came i went with it. everything was done in FCP no affter effects.

Brilliant photography. The music enriches the uncanny side of the urban imagery. I particularly feel the still street image with animated background as a remarkable centrepiece. A very interesting sketch work on London.

thanks for this - an interesting view of London where all is not quite right and yet everything seems to run smoothly nonetheless. I really enjoyed the way the music offset the sometimes joyous and strange viewpoints.
    Greetings from London.

Mesmerizing film. Do you storyboard your work? I love this stream of consciousness vibe you have, and you have inspired me to try it.
