Wendy Merrick, WCI Program Director, explains how the Competitive Workforce Grant (CWG) program is intended to work, and introduces a successful CWG project in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. G. L. Tucker (M State - Detroit Lakes), Nathan Hoff (BTD, one of the project's industry partners) and Vern Schnathorst (School-to-Work Coordinator for Detroit Lakes High School) describe how the project came together, each from his own perspective. Actual footage of workers at BTD's Detroit Lakes facility and students in the high school classroom illustrate the connection between the learning environment and the workplace - a connection that WCI is proud to have helped make possible through the Competitive Workforce Grant.

Wendy invites interested parties from within West Central Initiative's nine-county service region to contact her for more information on this WCI program. The current grant round application deadline is March 15, 2013.
