fun and quirky. I like it a lot. I would like to see the letters jump into the purple bckgrnd that fell on "tuts+" and the bckgrnd reveal slowly into position and the black fade in rather than abruptly appear.

Thanks, but it's far from perfect. Just alot of position and unlocked scaling keyframes carefully positioned. Pretty easy, just very time consuming.

Thanks! It's really not very complicated at all, just takes some time. Using keyframes very carefuly for position and unlocked scaling(so the letters could stretch a little) and ALOT of trial and error. At times I would animate the rotation value of a letter with the anchor point at floor level. The sound fx also are really the life to any animation.

This is one of the best logo reveals I have seen...it reminds me a lot of the PIXAR logo, its so good. I know it only involves keyframing and some shadows...but I would love to see a tutorial of yours in AEtuts...good work!!!

truly better than the one that won first place. simply because your peace is fun and funny - has a story to it. the piece that won is technically superior but lacks in every other aspect. it's just ur average video id - nothing more, nothing less = dull. 2bad you didn't win 1st place, but congrats on this little piece of animation. good luck in the future.
