Children's television was really psychedelic when I was a kid. It's probably why so many of artists in my generation are obsessed with bright colors and altered states. This is part of a series of explorations using old videos from late-70's, early-80's TV and extracting the movement and color while stripping away content. These are created using video processing systems that analyze the motion of each pixel and manipulatethat information before applying it to the incoming images. The distortions and color combinations are a result of an accumulation of frames and pixel manipulations over time. This will be part of a longer video that I'm working on for a video/print project

does the motion analyze needs to be preprocess or is it possible to do it all live?

It all happens in realtime, although this video was done in non-realtime to get higher def (I'm working on a print project too).

great idea and result! this with a well-crafted music or sound design following the same principle would be double-yummy.
