I had wanted to visit the Monument in London for many years and finally the day arrived! What a remarkable find, so out of place, surrounded by modern architecture. The climb in itself was an experience, hundreds of steps up a tightly wound spiral staircase, cautiously negotiating descending visitors and trying to resist the temptation to look down. But what a magnificent view from the top! A long stretch of the beautiful River Thames with Tower Bridge at one end and the Festival Hall and London Eye at the other.

A day in London is never complete without a sedate potter along the south bank of the Thames. Transformed from it's 1970s wasteland past, it is now a hub of vibrancy, culture, colour, youth. Works of art, astonishing buildings and stunning views.

I kinda like London. Can you tell?
