The importance of a cultural shift to include evidence-based practice (EBP) throughout the profession has been identified over the past five years. Recently, a majority of focus has been directed toward enhancing athletic trainers knowledge of EBP concepts as well regulating the inclusion of EBP throughout athletic training education programs. However, very little attention has been given to provide educators with specific educational tools and assignments to facilitate successful dissemination of the required EBP competencies throughout didactic and clinical education curricula. Integration of EBP in all aspects of a students education fosters critical thinking and allows students to practice clinical integration over time. While it is important to consider the challenges and caveats each unique athletic training education program may possess (eg, the inability to provide a specific EBP course, lack of confidence among faculty and clinical preceptorship to implement EBP concepts), having a foundation of applicable assignments for inclusion of the various EBP concepts will offer a starting point for educators to explore the creative ways in which the numerous EBP competencies can be incorporated. Additionally, we will discuss how these educational tools can enhance student assessment and contribute to educational outcomes. Therefore, the purpose of this presentation is to introduce and share different clinically-based assignments pertaining to the EBP competencies that can be incorporated throughout an entire curriculum.
