In this video, Dr. Helen Tibbo - Alumni Distinguished Professor at SILS - discusses the new Post-Master's Certificate in Data Curation. She also touches on the current certificate in data curation for graduate-level students.
The Post-Master's Certificate (PMC) is a post-master’s degree that is designed for practitioners who seek a continuing education program to enhance their professional development in Information and Library Science. The PMC is an hybrid program with residential and online components. The PMC allows students to customize their coursework depending on their goals.
The Data Curation emphasis within the Post-Masters Certicate (PMC) program aims to educate information professionals in libraries, archives, government agencies and corporations or businesses who are responsible for managing and preserving the data assets of the organization. We expect graduates to serve as leaders in those organizations and to be active participants in defining data curation standards and practices. The curriclum will include advanced courses that prepare students to understand the statutory, economic, and technical issues related to data creation, dissemination, use and reuse and preservation in organizations.
