Arthur Snow brought his family from England on the ship the New Australia in 1952. He left his role managing posh English Hotels with ‘Hunt Balls’ and fancy banquets, and found himself running the Scarborough Beach Hotel with quite different clientele who wore stubby shorts and liked drinking with sandy feet in the beer garden. Together with his daughter Jane, he tells of their first year in Australia at the grand art deco Scarborough Beach Hotel that won all his families hearts.
