50i/25p Slow Motion Test Canon Legria HF-S100
5 months ago
I recently bought a Canon Legria HF S100 and thought I'd do some tests. I wanted to get that slow-mo effect and found an awesome little 6 step process on how to make it into slow-mo using After Effects. Here it is:
1. Import your 50i into ae. (Use your m2ts file)
2. Right click on the clip and select interpret footage.
3. Enter 12.5 as the 'conform to' frame rate
4. Drag the clip into the empty timeline creating a new composition of correct duration.
5. Open composition settings and change frame rate to 25.
6. Render
AE will automatically seperate the fields and make nice slomo.
Leave a comment if you have any questions.
Thanks

Sean Tucker 5 months agoThanks for this mate. I've been trying to work this one out this week. Will give your process a go because the others didn't really work. -
Richard Bolland 5 months agoCool man, yeah it was a bit weird. Cause the m2ts file in After Effects reads as 25fps. But if you follow the steps it works out. -
Sean Tucker 5 months agoHow did you get that m2ts file? When mine captures in Premiere it takes it straight to .avi. Oh, and I also had that 25fps thing with 50i in another process. Apparently its just that its only 50 half frames a second which makes 25 full frames... or something like that. -
Richard Bolland 5 months agoThe software that comes with my camera allows me to convert it into m2ts. So im not sure what the vibe is. In the original thing that I found it said that all you need is 50i footage. So i guess you just gonna have to fool around until something sticks -
alex maier 3 months agohow do you get 50i footage i thought it only records in 60i, 30p, or 24p -
Ripbowl Media 3 months agoPal area camera? -
Richard Bolland 3 months agoYeah, im based in South Africa. We operate on a PAL system. So our footage is normally 25p or 50i.
