We wanted to check out Matheny Creek at a low level. This run has a reputation for being really fun with great play waves at high water (Queets gauge 10,000+ cfs) but people have run it at really low flows and reported that it was a go. The larger drops on this run had nice pools below them and anything that looks sketchy can be walked easily. There is plenty of wood in the gorges, and some of the rapids are long enough that you can't see the bottom which makes it necessary to hop out and take a quick look at them. The shuttle is a piece of cake and the amount of whitewater on this stretch of river makes for a really fun day. Definitely worth hitting up on those days when nothing else is running.
