BIG IN JAPAN: A Link to the Future filmed over a week during the turning of the 2013 New Year period around Kansai in Japan. Shot in Nara, Osaka, Arashiyama and Kyoto, it features myself and Keven, two English teachers from South Korea on a short winter vacation.
Filmed and edited by myself, cut into four parts (this is the first), i was influenced by 16 bit video games, especially Zelda 3: A Link to the Past, as well as music videos such as the Prodigy's 'Smack My Bitch Up', Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey and Japan's mixture of otherworldly countryside charm and frenetic urban pace.
It was shot using mostly an Olympus OMD EM5 whilst the grainier footage was using a Canon PowerShot ELPH 300 HS.
