Panasonic SDR-S26 Moon shot at 100X magnification
5 months ago
The excessive grain is due to my attempting to bring out the detail. Actual sample of footage from cam at the beginning.
This cam can get really close and personal as well as far far away shots. All this in a camcorder which may be considered a mere toy, and for less than £200. Can't be bad.
This camcorder is supposed to be my partner's birthday toy. Perhaps I'll just get her a bottle of cheap perfume instead eh?
The Panasonic produces a SD MPEG2 file in widescreen 16:9 32bit.

Can you export at 768x576, rather than 704x576, that way the moon may look round rather than egg shaped on vimeo?
Hopefully the trip to Cromford Canal is on for tomorrow (Friday.) If you can join us that would be great, Nigel.
Didn't realize that it was widescreen until I saw it on YouTube, so my suggestion of exporting at 768x576 is incorrect, try these Settings vimeo.com/groups/3069/file:4606 using SUPER and it should display correctly here on Vimeo.
Great little camera John, I would give it to Joan and then when she is not looking, borrow it once or twice ;-)
Try using the contrast settings to bring out the depth of shadows (Blacks) - I use that quite a lot, and more often than not it seems to do the trick!
Thanks for the share mate :)
Rob.
Then I watched it a second time and noticed you've made a few tweeks. Well, it looks like you have sussed the contrast bit out very well and corrected the aspect ratio too (the moon is now round again ;-)
nice work mate :)
Almost round, just 16 pixels short of a circle, as mother used to say...
720 - 704... Never mind;-)
keep on sharing John, I like what you do...
What are you after lol.
