Flower Basket Show is portraying how excessive kindness can turn into brutal force.
The flower in the video can be viewed as a commodity, which represents the wealth and status the person who send the gift has. The act of granting becomes a display and giving out his/her own statement. The artist’s first solo exhibition is now altered to their private show.
The work consists of two video projections. By arranging the flower baskets in a certain order to fill the empty parking slot in the first video, the artist appears to have control over the presents. (It is said to be impolite to place each of the baskets right next to one another) In the second video, the artist manifests to have the full power over the gifts by cutting off all the valuable flowers. It is a slight gesture to state her complaint towards the over-consumption and imposed goodness on her. In the end, the artist fully embraces the value that was given.
