Sorry if this is sooo obvious.
for this, i just used the default settings. no cinemode and no TV. just compared shooting in 60i and 24p modes which is in settings somewhere, i don't remember off the top of my head since i'm at work and can't check.
24p still gets stored as 60i on the tape, so you need to convert the 60i to 24p using pulldown if you shoot in 24p. i had to remove pulldown for the 24p shot. no big difference though. i just shoot in 60i and not really in 24p unless i want to make a movie movie and make it look cinematic.
ping me if you have any questions.
I just bought a Canon HV20 and have been playing around with footage trying to find the best way to convert my video but also get lossless versions as well.
Could you please email me at pdinnissen at gmail dot com the steps you took in order to get results such as what you are showing here? I am using a trial version of Adobe Premiere CS3.
Thank you.
1) canon hv20 camera
2) all auto default settings on the camera
3) tripod
4) video editor and then i compress it to 1280x720 (720p) 2 pass using 6 Mbps average and 8Mps peak for bitrate. audio only about 192Kbs at 44Khz.
holding the camera really still for HD shooting is key. so the tripod will make the video look a lot better.
