It's September, 2012 and the HTWPA crew is heading to Hardwood Ski & Bike in Barrie, ON for Mike Garrigan's annual Cyclocross Clinic. Having being crowned the Canadian Cyclocross Champion in 2007 and raced in Belgium, including multiple World Championships, Mike is certainly an expert on the sport. As the day begins, the skies open up and we are treated to perfect weather for 'cross - rain, and lots of it. Mike covers topics including bike and clothing equipment choice, race-day logistics, racing strategy, training tips, and cyclocross specific skills including dismounting/remounting, running with bike, barriers, and bike-handling skills for mud, sand, steep hills and turns - clearly enough material to warrant it's own documentary (or even better, attending the clinic in person). All in all, it was a great experience to learn skills (many of which were surprising even to the experienced rider), hang out with new friends, and get messy while playing around in the dirt.
